Crazy Berry and Cozy Baby

Can you believe this strawberry??  Dylan found it in the bunch we bought.  It was HUGE and I've NEVER seen a berry shaped quite like this in all my life.  We wanted to save it, but thought that probably wouldn't work out so good, so Dylan ate it and said it was delicious :-)
Baby Avi on her way to her 2 week appointment.  These two weeks have flown by and it's amazing how she's seemed to just blend in with the family and go with the flow.  I guess you have no choice when you're #3!
See those fat little cheeks??  This girl has been packing on the weight!  At her 2 week appointment Avi weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz. and was 20 inches.  A whole pound and inch bigger than at her birth.  Usually the pediatrician likes to see the baby back to their birth weight by their 2 week check, but as you can see Avi has surpassed that.  They even asked me if I was supplementing her, which I am most definitely NOT!  She's just a champion nurser.  I am so grateful that Avi has been so easy.  I was a little nervous about making the transition to #3, but she has eaten well since the moment she was born and last night she slept 6 hours!!
My mom attributes the ease we've had to a good diet.  I'm not sure if it's just one thing, but I will tell you we have been trying to follow the Weston A. Price Foundation way of nutrition and I feel wonderful.  No postpartum blues or mood swings.  I have energy and feel great... just as I did my whole pregnancy.  If you are reading this and care about the nutrition of your family, please talk to me!!  I have a book called Wise Traditions that you can read to understand better proper nutrition.  This isn't about low fat people, it's about eating the way our ancestors have eaten for thousands of years.  It's about fats, fats, fats... real fats, good fats, protein and organic, local if possible, produce and soaked grains and nuts and whole raw milk.  Real good fat DOES NOT make you fat.  If I could share anything that would be it.  If you or your children are eating a low fat diet- stop.... also, stop with the sugar, white flour and commercial fats and oils.  Start with grass-fed meats and organ meats (a hard one for me), coconut oil (you NEED saturated fat), olive oil. cod liver oil, egg yoke (you NEED cholesterol).  I never like to sound preachy, but I figured this is my blog after all, what better place!  When you feel so passionately about something you have to share it or I feel you're doing a disservice to others.  I leave it at that, but please if you'd like to learn more ask me!!

Proud Brothers- Avi's first moments home...

Dylan and and his new baby sister.  He was so proud and so excited to finally have her home.  He'll make an excellent big brother to her.
Soren kept saying "she's so cute" over and over and giving her little kisses.  He thinks he's found a new baby doll.
Avi is a lucky girl to have such loving brothers.  She'll always be protected and cherished by them.
They couldn't believe how tiny she was.  They just stared in amazement!

It was so fun to see their little faces when we walked in the door.  I just had to share how excited they were.  It's nice they are both old enough to talk about it and Dylan especially understands and is so proud.  He took her picture to school to show his class his new little sis.!  Soren just wants to love her to pieces all the time (literally!).  I can't wait until they can make her smile and interact more.

Four Days Old...

"I do NOT want to be a PRINCESS!!!!!!!!!!!"
Sweet baby girl

Sleeping Beauty...

Things are going wonderfully.  Avi is already back to her birth weight.  She is such a calm, content baby and we are loving having her!

Aviana Hayden is HERE!!!

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our baby girl!  Avi was born April 6th at 10:57pm.  She was 7 lbs. 4 oz. and 19 inches tall and is absolutely beautiful!!  The boys are in love like the rest of us and so far she's been a pretty easy going girl.  I will post pics. and her whirlwind birth story when I get a chance.  Our family is complete now and we feel so blessed to have three amazing kids to grow through this life with.
