Crazy Berry and Cozy Baby

Can you believe this strawberry??  Dylan found it in the bunch we bought.  It was HUGE and I've NEVER seen a berry shaped quite like this in all my life.  We wanted to save it, but thought that probably wouldn't work out so good, so Dylan ate it and said it was delicious :-)
Baby Avi on her way to her 2 week appointment.  These two weeks have flown by and it's amazing how she's seemed to just blend in with the family and go with the flow.  I guess you have no choice when you're #3!
See those fat little cheeks??  This girl has been packing on the weight!  At her 2 week appointment Avi weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz. and was 20 inches.  A whole pound and inch bigger than at her birth.  Usually the pediatrician likes to see the baby back to their birth weight by their 2 week check, but as you can see Avi has surpassed that.  They even asked me if I was supplementing her, which I am most definitely NOT!  She's just a champion nurser.  I am so grateful that Avi has been so easy.  I was a little nervous about making the transition to #3, but she has eaten well since the moment she was born and last night she slept 6 hours!!
My mom attributes the ease we've had to a good diet.  I'm not sure if it's just one thing, but I will tell you we have been trying to follow the Weston A. Price Foundation way of nutrition and I feel wonderful.  No postpartum blues or mood swings.  I have energy and feel great... just as I did my whole pregnancy.  If you are reading this and care about the nutrition of your family, please talk to me!!  I have a book called Wise Traditions that you can read to understand better proper nutrition.  This isn't about low fat people, it's about eating the way our ancestors have eaten for thousands of years.  It's about fats, fats, fats... real fats, good fats, protein and organic, local if possible, produce and soaked grains and nuts and whole raw milk.  Real good fat DOES NOT make you fat.  If I could share anything that would be it.  If you or your children are eating a low fat diet- stop.... also, stop with the sugar, white flour and commercial fats and oils.  Start with grass-fed meats and organ meats (a hard one for me), coconut oil (you NEED saturated fat), olive oil. cod liver oil, egg yoke (you NEED cholesterol).  I never like to sound preachy, but I figured this is my blog after all, what better place!  When you feel so passionately about something you have to share it or I feel you're doing a disservice to others.  I leave it at that, but please if you'd like to learn more ask me!!

Yep Aubrey...its your blog and your message is important!. In my Nutrition certification stuff and everything I've read, this is right in line with just eating healthy. The big thing is to stay away from so much processed foods and get back to eating as whole and natural food as possible...which can definitely be challenging with kiddos. We do our best, but we're far from perfect. Glad to hear Avi is doing so great!! Hope to see you soon!
